The giant R/C models are impressive!
The giant R/C models atract a lot of the attention on the shows! They are built by the most experienced modellers and flown by very experienced pilots! You should carefuly judge your capabilities when considering building of this model.
If you're going to build your first giant R/C model think about several important issues firstly.
Workshop space
Do you have sufficient space in your workshop? Moving wings of 200x70 cm size each, or fuselage of 3 meters length, 90 cm high weghting close to 30 kgs is not an easy task. Do you have big enough door to get the model in and out of your workshop?
Garage size
You'll need a space where you'll be able to assemble the model, ideally indoor. To do so you need a room with at least 5x4 meters space.
Storage
If you store your model in a garage, your car probably won't fit in any more.
Handling
You won't be able to lift the model or even just the fuselage by yourself. You probably can lift 30 kgs weight but lifting up 30 kgs fuselage by hand holding it by the joining tube in it's center of gravity is good for a well trained body builder not for most of the modellers.
Transportation
Unless you've got a realy large SUV or real estate car you won't be able to load your model inside the car. Even if you disassemble the model to maximal possible extend, the risk that the model will be damaged during the transportation is bigger than that it will be crashed during flying. A trailer of 3x1.5 meters size is the reccommended way of transportation.
Cost
Last but definitely not least issue to include in your consideration! Let consider the following cost:
DXF Plans €20 :-)
Ply Wood, Balsa, Fiber Glass €200
Glues €100
Ceconite €100
Painting €300
Accessories €400
Motor €2,000
Electronics €3,000
Good Luck!
